Commercial Incentives and Rebates
Credits are available for eligible systems placed in service on or before December 31, 2016:*
Federal Commercial Tax Credit
The credit is equal to 30% of expenditures, with no maximum credit. Eligible solar energy property includes equipment that uses solar energy to generate electricity, to heat or cool (or provide hot water for use in) a structure, or to provide solar process heat. Hybrid solar lighting systems, which use solar energy to illuminate the inside of a structure using fiber-optic distributed sunlight, are eligible. Passive solar systems and solar pool-heating systems are not eligible.
Maryland Mid-sized Solar Energy Grant
All projects must be installed by the end of October 2010 in order to receive incentives. Incentives are calculated according to the following schedules:
- PV: $500/kW DC for the first 20 kW; $250/kW for the next 30 kW; and $150/kW for the next 50 kW
- SHW: 15% of the installed system cost up to $25,000
