Solar Energy World Helps Local Synagogue Go Green
Solar Water Heating System to Shave Approximately 25 Percent off Utility Bill
Jessup, MD (October 11, 2010)—Solar Energy World, the region’s leading provider and installer of solar panel and solar hot water systems, will be installing a state-of-the-art solar water heating system on the roof of synagogue B’nai Tzedek in Potomac, Md.
The system consists of two solar hot water collectors and an 80 gallon water tank that will supply hot water for the entire building. The system is expected to shave approximately 25 percent off the synagogue’s monthly utility costs.
“It’s a real win-win situation,” says Solar Energy World vice president Geoff Mirkin. “More businesses and organizations are looking to cut costs and find ways to enhance the return on investment of their buildings. Forward-thinking organizations like B’nai Tzedek that install solar panel systems are not only improving their bottom-line, but also helping reduce carbon emissions.”
Solar hot water systems, also known as solar thermal, are one of the most cost-effective renewable energy systems. Solar thermal water heating systems collect the sun’s energy in the form of heat energy, which then gets transferred to a water storage system and distributed through the facility’s current plumbing system.
The system was paid for in part with a $2,000 grant from the Maryland Department of Energy. Planning for the system lasted approximately two months and included engineering and permitting.
