Solar Energy World Completes Green Vision of Commercial Developers
Metuchen Sportsplex selects Solar Energy World for first high-efficiency LG solar panel system install in the U.S.
Elkridge, MD. (November, 2011)— Solar Energy World, a leading provider of solar panel systems in the Mid-Atlantic region, announces the installation of a 326kW solar system for Metuchen Sportsplex, located in Metuchen, N.J. The installation is the first use of LG Electrics’ high efficiency module in the United States.
The system consists of 1,248 LG 250w panels. Providing 55% of the building’s electricity, the system is expected to save $42,341 annually in energy costs. Additionally, the installation will provide an estimated $184,022 in revenue each year from roughly 326 Solar Renewable Energy Certificates (SRECs) that the system generates. Owners of the property, The Maven Group, are dedicated to green development, and the complex is built on a remediated brownfield site. Originally part of a 19 acre tract, the site was formerly used to manufacture products containing asbestos. The Maven Group affiliate Recycland, LLC, remediated the plot under the Industrial Site Recovery Act (ISRA). It now is at the leading edege of Metuchen, New Jersey’s Main Street revitalization..
The new solar installation will have a significant environmental impact, reducing approximately 240 tons of CO2, which is equivalent to the CO2 emissions produced from the consumption of 25,178 gallons of gasoline.
